Comforting Care

for All Patients

“No offense, but I hate the dentist!”

We’ve heard this many times before — and you’re not alone! Going to the dentist can be an incredible unnerving event — from the sights, to the smells, to the drill and the people in scary masks. Whether you developed dental anxiety from your youth or had bad experiences with dentists in the past, we understand and we are here to help. Dr. Sislow and her team know how scary it can be, and we offer plenty of services to ensure you are comfortable.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a very mild anxiolytic. This odorless gas is administered by placing a small rubber hood over your nose, which you breathe throughout the appointment. The Nitrous Oxide does not “knock you out”, but instead, it makes you very relaxed and calm. The effects of the gas are eliminated within five minutes of stopping. This means there is no need to get a driver to and from the appointment, and you can return to work or school after we are done!

Oral Medication

Sometimes, we need a little bit more help to quell our nerves. Before any procedures, we can provide you with a prescription for some oral medications to help with anxiety. Typically, you take 1 to 2 pills about 45 minutes before your appointment. These medications stay in your system for a while, so you will need a driver to bring you to your appointment, stay throughout, and drive you home.

Peace of Mind

We want to ensure that your dental experience with us is as comfortable as possible. If there are other things we can do to make your appointment easier, please let us know! You are in complete control of your appointment, and we are looking forward to working with you!
